Wright's Beach (Sonoma Coast State Park)
7095 CA-1, Bodega Bay, CA 94923, United States
Overview
Wright's Beach Campground is located in Sonoma Coast State Park, midway between Bodega Bay and Jenner, on the edge of a nice sandy beach off Highway 1. Wright's Beach Campground has 27 campsites located on the beach. There are no showers, however, registered campers can use the Bodega Dunes Campground's token-operated hot showers, which are approximately 5 miles south. There are no water-filling stations at Wright's Beach.
Wright's Beach Campground can accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers, but there are no hookups and the maximum vehicle length is 31 feet. Each site has a picnic table, a fire ring, and a concrete parking area.
No fires are allowed on the beach but you can use the fire rings provided at each site, which can accommodate up to eight people and two vehicles each. There are no group campsites and when the campsite is full, self-contained vehicles can park in the overflow area on either side of the kiosk on a first-come, first-served basis.
Note that cell service is very spotty throughout the campground with most areas lacking cell service. You’ll have to take a short walk to the beach or to the top of the campground to get service.
Dogs must be kept on a leash and must always be supervised at Wrights Beach. They aren’t allowed on most hiking trails and must be kept in a vehicle or tent from 10 pm to 6 am.
Reservations are strongly advised, especially on weekends, holidays, and during peak season.

Nearby Campgrounds to Wright's Beach (Sonoma Coast State Park)
Sonoma Coast State Park
Sonoma Coast State Park has four campgrounds. The campsite with the most facilities is Bodega Dunes Campground. It has showers and restrooms, and although there is a dump station, there are no RV hookups. Wright’s Beach has flush toilets but no showers. Bodega Dunes, like Wrights Beach, charges $35 a night.
Environmental sites are also available at the Pomo Canyon and Willow Creek. However, these are primitive walk-in sites with limited facilities.
Pomo Canyon Environmental Camp
21 walk-in tent-only campsites are available at Pomo Canyon Environmental Campground in Sonoma Coast State Park, which is surrounded by a lovely redwood grove. First-come, first-served applies at every site. What separates Pomo Canyon Environmental Campground from Wrights Beach is the availability of basic facilities. There is no access to water and dogs are not permitted at the campsite, on the trails, or on the roadways. Like Wrights Beach, there is no cell service and you must pack in and out all equipment and trash.
Ocean Cove Campground
With more than a hundred sites, Ocean Cove is a way larger campground as compared to Wrights Beach’s 27. Ocean Cove offers a boat launch, RV, and tent sites with hot showers, but like Wrights Beach, there are no hookups.
Ocean Cove also allows for group camping for up to ten vehicles for $350, unlike Wrights Beach which has no group camping facilities. Like Wrights Beach, Ocean Cove allows dogs on a leash at an additional fee of $2, while in Wrights, there’s no extra for the pooches.
Bodega Dunes Campground
With about a hundred sites, Bodega Dunes Campground is a larger campground than Wrights. The sites can accommodate tents, RVs, and trailers, and Bodega has showers and dump stations which Wright Beach lacks. The campers at Wrights Beach are advised to use these facilities at Bodega Dunes since it is only about 5 miles to the south.
