FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to Twin Lakes Campground
Twin Lakes Campground has more convenient amenities than many of the campgrounds in Inyo National Forest since it has quick access to the paid dump station and paid showers at Twin Lakes General Store. Although the store is a separate entity, it’s located within the campground close to the eastern bank.
There are no group sites at this location, but there are ADA-accessible sites for disabled guests. The campground has a relatively generous length limit of 40 feet for RVs and trailers, making it possible for even larger rigs to stay at this location.
Lake Mary Campground
Lake Mary has a similar arrangement to Twin Lakes since it’s located next to a major lake with plenty of activities. The campground has 48 sites for tents or RVs with a maximum length of 30 feet. There are no ADA-accessible sites at Lake Mary Campground, so disabled guests may prefer to stay at other campgrounds. Lake Mary Campground does not have showers or a dump station, but guests can travel to Twin Lakes General Store or other area facilities for paid options.
Coldwater Campground
Coldwater Campground has 73 sites for tents or RVs, but there are no ADA-accessible sites. The campground is located next to Lake Mary with easy access to one of the major trail networks in Inyo National Forest. Guests can travel to Twin Lakes General Store to use the amenities there.
Old Shady Rest Campground
Old Shady Rest is next to New Shady Rest and Pine Glen. It isn’t close to any of the nearby lakes, so it isn’t the best option for those who prefer water sports, fishing, or boating. The campground is smaller than Twin Lakes and only has 45 sites. Guests at Old Shady Rest have easy access to showers and a dump station outside the park itself.
New Shady Rest Campground
New Shady Rest is located next to town but isn’t close to any of the lakes in the area. It has 92 sites for tents or RVs, including some ADA-accessible sites. The campground has a dump station and access to showers at nearby Mammoth Mountain RV Park, making amenities roughly comparable to Twin Lakes Campground.
Pine Glen Campground
Pine Glen isn’t located by a lake. It has 9 standard sites, 6 large group sites for up to 30 people, and 2 small group sites for up to 15 people. The cost per night is $66 for small group sites and $132 for large ones. Pine Glen has access to the dump station at New Shady Rest and paid showers near town. There are no ADA-accessible sites at Pine Glen.
Sherwin Creek Campground
Sherwin Creek has 70 sites for RVs, trailers, and tents as well as 15 walk-in sites that are for tents only. None are ADA-accessible. The amenities are more basic since Sherwin Creek has vault toilets instead of the flush ones at Twin Lakes. Guests can drive to Mammoth Mountain RV Park to use the showers or dump station, but that’s less convenient than the on-site location of Twin Lakes General Store. Lastly, Sherwin Creek does not have easy access to the lakes in the area, so visitors who prefer boating and fishing may be better off at Twin Lakes.
