Located in a somewhat remote area off the Pacific Coast Highway in Malibu, California, Thornhill Broome Campground is part of Point Mugu State Park. Dogs are allowed on the beach and in the main campground but not on the trails.
The main campground features 69 primitive campsites, 17 of which are tent-only seasonal sites available on a first-come, first-served basis. The maximum length and width for motorhomes and trailers is 31 feet and 12 feet, respectively.

Guests are welcome to use the cold shower or use the token-operated heated showers in the park itself or at Sycamore Canyon Campground. Thornhill Broome campers can also use the dump station at Sycamore Canyon.
The Jolla Group Campsite can accommodate up to 50 guests and 16 vehicles. A minimum of 9 campers is required to book the site. A backcountry site with no amenities is available approximately 2.5 miles away from the group site.

FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to Thornhill Broome
Since Thornhill Broome is very sparse and offers few amenities, most other campgrounds in the area are more comfortable and convenient. However, at $35 a night (or $225 for the La Jolla group site), Thornhill Broome can be far more affordable than other beachfront campgrounds. Its relatively remote location means a longer drive to reach Escondido, Oxnard, or other area towns.
Sycamore Canyon Campground
Sycamore Canyon Campground costs $45 per night. Amenities are still basic but include flush toilets, token-operated hot showers, and a dump station. Hikers and bicyclists who are just passing through may stay at a separate tent-only site for $10 per night.
Leo Carrillo State Park
There are 135 sites available within Leo Carrillo State Park. Sites are $45 per night without hookups and $60 with hookups. Leo Carrillo’s campground offers 20-, 30-, and 50-amp electric hookups and a dump station.
Emma Wood State Beach
Camping options at Emma Wood State Beach are even more primitive than at Thornhill Broome. No amenities are available in the 90-site campground, and only self-contained motorhomes and trailers are allowed. Campsites aren’t level or fully paved, but Emma Wood can accommodate RVs up to 45 feet compared to a 31-foot limit at Thornhill Broome.
Group camping is available at four developed sites for up to 30 people. Amenities at the group campsites include restrooms and drinking water. There is also a primitive RV group site for up to 50 people.
Carpinteria State Beach
Carpentaria has more amenities, including full hookups with 30-amp electric. There are several group sites available for as low as $180 per night, but they may only be able to accommodate up to 25 people. Group sites are limited to 3–5 vehicles, which is far less than the 16 permitted at Thornhill Broome’s group site, La Jolla.
