FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Campground
Sugarloaf Ridge State Park Campground is located east of Santa Rosa, CA. It’s set in a mountainous, somewhat forested region, so it differs from campgrounds located at the beach or flatter parts of the state. Amenities include water, showers, restrooms, picnic tables, and fire rings. However, Sugarloaf Ridge does not have hookups or a dump station, which may make it challenging to manage longer stays.
Guests who are looking for a more luxurious camping experience will appreciate the glamping tents, rental port-a-potties, and optional plush bedding package. This unique arrangement allows visitors to customize their own experience and enjoy nature without having to worry about personal comfort.
Lastly, Sugarloaf Ridge has a large group site that can fit up to 50 guests with a low price of only $165 per night.
Ritchey Creek Campground
Ritchey Creek has 23 mixed-use campsites for RVs or tents, 18 tent-only sites, and a selection of yurts and cabins. Amenities are similar to Sugarloaf Ridge, but sites are slightly more expensive at $43 per night. Ritchey Creek also offers a pool with a lifeguard for guests who enjoy swimming. The max length for trailers and RVs is 24 feet and 31 feet, respectively, so trailers will have slightly more room at Sugarloaf.
Oak Shores Day Use Area Campground
Oak Shores Day Use Area has over 200 sites with water, restrooms, picnic tables, and grills. There are also six covered sites for groups. No overnight camping is permitted, so guests who are looking for longer stays will be better served at Sugarloaf Ridge. Besides picnicking, visitors to Oak Shores can enjoy water sports, boating, fishing, and swimming at nearby Lake Berryessa. There are also several hiking trails in the area.
Skyline Campground
Skyline Group Campground is located in San Bernardino National Forest. It can accommodate up to 25 guests and 9 vehicles, which is roughly half as much as the group site at Sugarloaf Ridge. Amenities are slightly more developed since Skyline offers vault toilets, water, trash, fire rings, and picnic tables. The road and parking area are also paved. Rates are slightly cheaper at roughly $100–$110 per night.
Bodega Dunes
Bodega Dunes Campground is a small 21-site campground in Sonoma Coast State Park. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, drinking water, and a dump station located outside the campground but within the park. This campground is in a much different setting than Sugarloaf Ridge since it has access to the beach. Dogs and horses are allowed on certain trails and beaches, so this area is much more friendly to animals.
