Overview
Located on the west shore of Lake Tahoe, in south Tahoe City, Sugar Pine Point State Park is a must-visit. This beautiful park is a perfect mix of a lake, and forests of pine, fir, aspen, and juniper. Popular activities include paddle-boarding, kayaking, boating, and hiking.
At Sugar Pine Point State Park you’ll find 175 campsites at this campground, all designed to accommodate tent camping and RVs. Although there are no hookups, there is a dump station that is only open during summer.
In addition, the campground has restrooms with flush toilets, tap water, and an amphitheater.
This campground has designated accessible sites reserved for people with disabilities, You’ll also find ten group campsites designed to accommodate between 9 and 10 people along with 10 vehicles.
The Sugar Pine Point allows dogs on paved areas and within the campground but not on the beach and the unpaved hiking trails. Dogs must be attended to at all times and kept on a leash no longer than 6 feet when outside the vehicle.
Sugar Pine is open all year round, and reservations are available from May to October. Out of this period, sites are first-come, first-served.

YesAll 175 campsites at the Sugar Pine Point State Park Campground can only be made between 6 months and two days before your arrival date. Usually, reservations open up in mid-May through mid-October. Throughout this period, the reservations are first-come, first-served.
To make reservations through ReserveCalifornia or by phone: 1-800-444-PARK (7275). There is a $7.99 cancellation fee as a penalty if a cancellation is made after 6 PM on the day of arrival. Campsites reservations cost $25 a night for a single unit in winter and $35 in all other seasons. It is also essential to know that a reservation charge is added to the price when you make reservations on Recreation.gov.

Group Camping Reservations
These reservations can be made by calling Reserve California at 1-800-444-PARK (7275) or visiting www.reservecalifornia.com. It is important to know that the reservations should be made 6 months before the arrival date.
These group sites have no hook-ups, however, there are showers. You can reserve the regular group campsites for $165 per night. Family camping sites on the other hand cost $35 per night.
Campsite Reservation Cancellations
Campsite reservations may be canceled or changed. They are, however, to be done as early as possible. Changes cost a $10 change fee (per reserved site). Cancellations made will not lead to a forfeiture of your campsite fees, but you’ll be charged a $10 cancellation fee.
Late cancellation fees apply from midnight one calendar day before your scheduled check-in.

Nearby Campgrounds to Sugar Pine Point State Park Campground
There is a range of activities you can enjoy at Sugar Pine Point State Park Campground, but here are some other campgrounds nearby that might suit you more.
Meeks Bay Campground
Meeks Bay is also located within the Tahoe Basin. There are only 40 campsites at the Meeks Bay Campground compared to the 175 at the much-larger Sugar Pine.
Although Meeks Bay can accommodate RVs and trailers, like Sugar Pine, there are no hookups. In addition, Meeks Bay can accommodate RVs of up to 20 feet while Sugar Pine allows for 32 feet.
It costs $33 per night to stay at the Meeks Bay, similar to the $35 fee for Sugar Pine.
West Ridge Campground
Just a little more costly than Sugar Pine, West Ridge campground costs $45 for beach sites and $35 for the other sites. Just like Sugar Pine, West Ride also has no hook-ups.
West Ridge also doesn’t have any accessible sites, while Sugar Pine has more than ten of them. West Ridge only allows for trailers up to 15 feet and RVs up to 18 feet, while Sugar Pine allows trailers up to 26 feet and RVs up to 32 feet.
William Kent Campground
William Kent Campground is located in a residential area next to a highway, while Sugar Pine is located on the shores of Lake Tahoe. This campground has yurts in addition to the RV and tent sites. Each yurt can accommodate about five to six people.
Like Sugar Pine, William Kent also doesn’t offer any hookups for their RV sites.
Eagle Point Campground
Eagle Point Campground is split into an upper section and a lower one. Eagle Point is a smaller campground with 97 sites compared to Sugar Pine’s 175. Both campgrounds have no hookups.
Eagle Point also has no accessible sites, while there are ADA sites in Sugar Pine. This campground is open from late May until around September, while Sugar Pine is open all year round.
Sugar Pine also allows for groups of up to 10 people in a group camping site, while Eagle Point can only accommodate 4 to 8 people, depending on the site.
