Overview
The Silverwood Lake State Recreation Area’s campground, also called Mesa Campground, can be reached by taking Highway 138, located 11 miles east of I-15 or 20 miles north of San Bernardino through Highways 18 and 138.
The campground features 136 camping sites suitable for tents, trailers, and RVs up to 31 feet. Located on a hill overlooking the picturesque Silverwood Lake, it is divided into two loops, Old Mesa (sites 1-95) and New Mesa (sites 96-136).
The New Mesa loop offers full hook-up sites (50-amp) with 20-foot-wide and 30-foot-long parking pads. In addition, there are several hike and bike campsites and group sites for up to 100 people and 30 vehicles.
Each campsite is equipped with a picnic table, fire ring, and grill, and has a paved parking spur. Amenities at the campground include a dump station, food service, camp store, parking, restrooms and showers, and drinking water. Some of the sites are also wheelchair accessible.
The campground is open throughout the year and allows dogs in designated areas such as campgrounds, picnic areas, and parking lots as well as on boats. However, pets are not permitted on the beach or in the water.

YesSilverwood Lake SRA Campground reservations can be made online at www.reservecalifornia.com. Reservations are accepted up to six months in advance before your visit and the dates of stay can be extended to your desired departure date based on the campsite availability and maximum stay rule.
The reservation price for the campsites per night depending on the type are as follows: Standard sites with no hookups - $45 RV sites with full hookups - $50 Hike and bIke - $10

Group Camping Reservations
There are several group sites in Silverwood. Miller Canyon has three tent-only group sites that can each accommodate 9 to 40 people and 32 vehicles. Each site costs $250.
Three other tent-only group sites called Valle, Baranca, and Rio can accommodate up to 100 people and 30 vehicles. Rio is also a horse camp site that has 12 corrals and can take a maximum of 24 horses. These sites cost $350.
Campsite Reservation Cancellations
You can cancel the reservation at recreation.gov, or by calling 1-877-444-6777. You may cancel your reservation until the day of your arrival. You will be refunded in full, less a $10 cancellation charge and any non-refundable reservation fees and/or previous change of date costs paid at the time of booking.
There is a $10 change charge if you wish to reschedule your arrival date instead of canceling.

Nearby Campgrounds to Silverwood Lake SRA
Applewhite Campground
Applewhite Campground is three miles north of Lytle Creek Ranger Station. Applewhite is way smaller with only 41 sites compared to the 136 at Silverwood Lake. Applewhite is mainly suited for tent camping but a few sites allow larger vehicles without hookups.
Although they are paved, the parking aprons in Applewhite are also quite narrow while Silverwood Lake can accommodate vehicles up to 31 feet. However, Applewhite is significantly cheaper at $10 a night compared to Silverwood which is $45 to $50.
Dogwood Campground
Dogwood campground is also located in San Bernadino National Forest. With 87 sites, its size is significantly less than the 136 sites of Silverwood Lake. Both campgrounds have full hookups. However, Dogwood is only open from April to October, weather depending but Silverwood Lake is open year-round.
Both campgrounds have similar fees: A hookup site at Dogwood is $47 while a standard site is $37. In contrast, Silverwood charges $50 for a hookup site and $45 for a standard.
