Overview
San Onofre Bluffs Campground is situated next to the stunning sandstone bluffs along Old Pacific Highway 101 in San Clemente, California.
175 campsites are tucked away in the San Onofre Bluffs Campground's natural surroundings. The campground is close to paths that climb up to the bluffs and trails that will lead you down to the 3.5 mile stretch of amazing sandy beach.
Paved parking spaces, a fire ring, grill, and table are included with each site. The park has drinking water, an RV dump station, vault toilets, and cold outside showers. There are no hookups available. Between 10 am and 8 pm, generators are allowed.
San Onofre Campground permits dogs, however, when outside your car, they must be restrained by a leash no more than six feet. So, your furry pals are permitted on two of the hiking paths, as well as within the campground, but not on the beach or in any of the buildings

YesBy dialing (800) 444-7275, you can reserve campsites (TTY 800-274-7275). You can also visit the website of San Onofre Bluffs at www.parks.ca.gov to make reservations online. Mid-March through mid-September, online reservations are possible, and all other times of the year, booking is on a first-come, first-served basis.

Group Camping Reservations
There is a group camping site in San Onofre Bluffs Campground and another in the nearby San Mateo. The Bluffs group site costs $250 and allows up to 50 people and 12 vehicles with a maximum length of 18 feet.
Campsite Reservation Cancellations
Online cancellations are possible, as well as phone cancellations at (800) 444-PARK (7275). The hours of operation for this service are 8 am. to 6 pm. Note that a $7.99 cancellation fee per reservation will be charged.

Nearby Campgrounds to San Onofre Bluffs Campground
San Mateo Campground
San Onofre State Beach has two campgrounds; this one (the Bluffs), and the nearby San Mateo. While the Bluffs campground has no hookups, San Mateo has 67 sites that offers them.
The Bluffs campground is closer to the beach but has cold outdoor showers while San Mateo has nice warm showers located within a building. Each campground has group camping facilities; the one at the Bluffs can accommodate 50 people, and the tents-only one at San Mateo, 40.
Both campgrounds have the same fees - $40 for a standard site and $65 for a full hookup site only available in San Mateo. ** **
San Clemente State Beach
San Clemente has two group camping sites that can accommodate 50 people each while San Onofre Bluffs has only one. Prices are similar with the Bluffs costing $250 and San Clemente costing either $250 or $300 depending on which site.
San Onofre Bluffs sites also offer no hookups, while there are 72 sites in San Clemente that do.
Doheny State Beach
Like San Onofre Bluffs, Doheny State Beach offers no hookups. Doheny’s premium oceanfront sites go at $60 and their inland sites at $40, while San Onofre Bluffs have a standard rate of $40.
Doheny also offers a hike and bike rate of $10 and hot showers while San Onofre only has cold outdoor showers.
Carlsbad State Beach
Carlsbad State Beach campground now offers 13 hookup sites costing $60 to $100 out of its 215 total sites. Their maximum vehicle length is 35 feet in comparison with San Onofre Bluff’s 25 feet.
Prices are similar, with their sites without hookups costing $35 to $50 compared to San Onofre’s $40. They too, offer token-operated hot showers while San Onofre doesn’t.
