FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to San Luis Creek Campground (San Luis Reservoir)
San Luis Creek Campground has 53 individual sites and 2 group sites located along O’Neill Forebay. The campground has hookups for water and electricity and a dump station, so it’s more accommodating for longer stays or guests who enjoy those conveniences. There are no flush toilets or showers, so tent-only campers may not feel as comfortable at San Luis Creek Campground.
However, with a length limit of 30 feet for trailers or RVs, this campground can fit all except for the largest rigs. There’s ample space to turn around and maneuver in the campground, and both loops lead to a generously sized parking area.
Dogs are permitted within the campground but not on trails or in the water. Guests who enjoy hiking and swimming with four-legged friends should consider other locations.
Los Banos Creek Campground
Los Banos Creek is located in the same park along Los Banos Reservoir, but it isn’t as developed. The campground has chemical toilets and showers but no dump station or hookups. Its 14 sites can fit tents or small RVs of up to 25 feet, but it’s difficult to fit RVs or trailers of any size in most sites. However, at a rate of only $20 per night, it’s highly affordable for a campground that’s located on the water. Swimming is not allowed due to algae, but boating and fishing are popular activities.
Mcconnell State Recreational Area Campground
McConnell SRA Campground has 17 sites for tents or RVs, 4 tent-only sites, and 2 group sites. Some sites have a pull-through design for larger vehicles, but trailers and RVs are limited to 24 feet and 30 feet, respectively. The campground is located along Merced River, and swimming, fishing, and rafting are all popular. Showers are available within the campground, but there is no dump station. Hookups are not offered at this campground, so guests who prefer hookups will be better served at San Luis Creek Campground.
Oak Point Campground
Oak Point Campground has 9 tent-only sites, 2 of which are intended only for walk-in guests. Oak Point does have vault toilets, but there are no hookups available. The group site is comparable in capacity to those at San Luis Reservoir, but it lacks upgraded amenities such as showers and power outlets. Oak Point doesn’t have access to lakes or water sources, so San Luis Creek Campground is better for guests who enjoy water sports, fishing, and swimming.
