FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to San Gorgonio Campground
As a smaller campground with no hookups and modest on-site amenities, San Gorgonio is a middle-of-the-pack option. Others will prefer campgrounds with hookups or a dump station for added convenience, while some guests will appreciate that the basics are covered for an affordable price of only $31 per night for singles or $62 per night for doubles.
Since there’s no group site, the largest sites at San Gorgonio are the doubles, which have a max of 16 guests and 4 vehicles. This may not be enough to accommodate larger groups.
Furthermore, San Gorgonio is located within a forest setting rather than a beach, so opportunities for water sports, fishing, and swimming are limited compared to many nearby beaches.
Barton Flats Campground
Barton Flats is also located in San Bernardino National Forest. Rates and the size of the campground are roughly the same. This campground has a paid dump station and bear boxes in addition to all amenities offered by San Gorgonio.
Pineknot Campground
Pineknot Campground is in the same forest as San Gorgonio, so the two campgrounds have the same pricing and surroundings. However, Pineknot does not have double sites or showers. San Gorgonio also has a longer RV limit at 35 feet compared to the 26-foot restriction at Pineknot.
South Carlsbad State Beach
South Carlsbad is at the beach rather than in a forest. It’s also much larger with over 200 sites. Hookups are available for some sites, and there’s a dump station within the campground. Ocean sites are $50, and hookups are an additional $25 per site. The Pelican Point group site starts at $650 per night and can fit up to 40 guests.
Carpinteria State Beach
Carpinteria is a large campground at the beach with almost 200 sites. Hookups are available, and the campground has a visitor’s center and showers as well. Sites are $45 per night on the low end and $80 on the high end for a premium site with full hookups. Carpinteria also offers multiple group sites that can fit 25–65 people for rates of $180–$430 per night.
