Overview
Pismo Oceano Campground is located in San Luis Obispo County, California, close to the Pismo City Beach and the Oceano Dunes State Vehicular Recreation Area (SVRA). The campground offers 42 RV sites with 30-amp electric and water hookups only. Pay-per-use dump stations ($10) are located by the entrance to Dunes SVRA or inside the North Beach Campground. There are also 40 dry sites for tent camping or boondocking, and the maximum length permitted is 31 feet for trailers or 36 feet for RVs. No group site is available at this campground. The peak season runs from May 15 to September 15. Dogs are welcome in the campground and on the beach as long as they’re not in the dunes or at Oso Flaco Lake. Pismo State Beach even allows vehicles on the beach along the surf.

Unique Experiences
- Walk along the bluffs, snap a few photos of the sea caves, or crawl through fake dinosaur eggs at Dinosaur Caves Park in Pismo State Beach.
- From November to January, head north on the beach to see thousands of butterflies at the Monarch Butterfly Grove and learn more about these fascinating creatures.

Sites with electric and water are $50 in the peak season and $40 in the off-season. All reservations will be charged a $7.99 nonrefundable booking fee.

Group Camping Reservations
There aren’t any group sites in Oceano Campground. If you want to camp with a group, you will need to reserve multiple individual sites at www.reservecalifornia.com or by calling 1-800-444-7275. The same rules apply to multiple reservations.

Nearby Campgrounds to Pismo Oceano
Pismo Oceano Campground is an excellent middle-of-the-road option between nearby primitive camping areas and those that offer full hookups. It’s an excellent choice for dogs because of its pet-friendly policies, but there is no designated group site for campers who are traveling together. Campers can even take their vehicles out on the beach itself, which is unique to Pismo State Beach within the state of California.
Pismo North Beach Campground
Pismo North Beach Campground has 103 sites for tent camping or boondocking in RVs or trailers. There is a pay-per-use dump station on site that costs $10.
Oceano Dunes SVRA
Oceano Dunes SVRA is far less structured than Oceano Campground since there are no designated sites. Instead, up to 500 primitive campers can set up anywhere on the dunes. Chemical and vault toilets are the only amenities. The number of campers permitted may periodically vary.
Morro Bay State Park
Morro Bay State Park has 87 multi-use primitive sites, 28 sites with water and electric hookups, 5 sites for hikers or bikers who are passing through, and 5 tent-only sites.
This campground also features two group sites. Chorro and Osos, which can accommodate up to 35 people and 25 people, respectively. Chorro allows 15 vehicles and Osos allows 10, but there is a maximum of 2 RVs per group site. Dogs are only permitted on trails and in the campground.
Morro Strand State Beach
Morro Strand State Beach Campground has 23 RV-only sites with full hookups that can fit vehicles up to 40 feet. There are also 27 primitive sites that can accommodate trailers and RVs up to 24 feet.
There are restrooms within the campground, but guests will have to go to Morro Bay State Park to take showers. Dogs are not allowed anywhere except the campground.
