Fallen Leaf Campground
2165 Fallen Leaf Rd, South Lake Tahoe, CA 96150, United States
Overview
Located just off Lake Tahoe’s south shore, Fallen Leaf Campground has 206 campsites and remains open from the middle of May through the end of October. Amenities include flush toilets, showers, a dump station, picnic tables, fire rings, and potable water. There is also a camp store and an amphitheater.
Standard sites can fit tents or RVs. Although the maximum length for RVs/trailers is 40 feet, some of the access areas may be difficult for larger rigs to navigate. Call or plan ahead for RVs/trailers that are close to the limit or unusually wide.
Fallen Leaf also has 6 ADA-accessible yurts available for rent. Yurts have lights and an electric heater, but the structures otherwise lack electricity. There is no group site available.
Dogs are allowed within the campground as long as they’re properly leashed, but they are not allowed in yurts. They may also be taken to the Tallac Historic Site that ranges from Tallac Point to Valhalla Pier. Dogs are not permitted on swimming beaches.

Nearby Campgrounds to Fallen Leaf Campground
Fallen Leaf Campground is much larger than many other California campgrounds. Its amenities are in the middle of terms of convenience and luxury. Although there are no hookups, the campground does offer flush toilets, showers, a camp store, and potable water.
At $38 per night for a standard site, the price is comparable to other campgrounds within this tier of amenities and services. The yurts are affordable at $100 per night, and despite their somewhat small size, they do offer lighting and heat for a unique cabin-like camping experience.
However, for groups or even large families, Fallen Leaf is unlikely to be the best option since its sites can only fit 6 guests.
Eagle Point Campground
Eagle Point Campground in Emerald Bay State Park is divided into upper and lower portions. In total, the campground has 100 sites with amenities similar to Fallen Leaf. Roughly half of the sites are for tents only, while the others can accommodate RVs and trailers. Small sites can only fit 4 guests, so larger families may prefer Fallen Leaf. Premium sites are more expensive at $45, but the view from the point is unbeatable.
West Ridge Campground
Located in D. L. Bliss State Park, West Ridge Campground has 18 campsites, some of which are tent-only sites. Amenities include potable water, showers, and picnic tables. Sites can fit up to 8 guests, and there are a limited number of pull-through spots available. This may add flexibility for some travelers who have larger groups or RVs/trailers. No sites are explicitly labeled as ADA accessible, but sites are paved and fairly level.
Sugar Pine Point State Park Campground
General Creek Campground at Sugar Pine Point State Park offers 175 sites that can fit up to 8 guests.
