FAQs
Nearby Campgrounds to Beals Point Campground (Folsom Lake)
Beals Point Campground is relatively large in size and offers more amenities than many campgrounds in the region. Since it has full hookups, longer stays are easy for RVs and trailers. For tent campers, the showers, restrooms, and dump station make primitive camping comfortable.
This campground has easy access to Folsom Lake, which includes areas for boating and fishing. A concession stand and first aid station are located nearby as well. Since dogs are allowed in the water and on the trails, this is a great park for enjoying time with pets.
However, at a rate of $40 nightly for full hookups, the rate can add up over time. Budget campers who are searching for the most affordable sites may be better served in other campgrounds.
Peninsula Campground
Peninsula Campground is located within the same park as Beals Point. It has 85 sites that can be accessed by boat or car. Smaller sites are for tents only, and trailers and RVs are limited in length to 18 feet and 24 feet, respectively. Therefore, guests with larger rigs should consider Beals Point instead.
Amenities include a dump station, showers, restrooms, water, picnic tables, and fire rings. There are also two boat launches nearby. This campground remains open from April 1 through October 1 with a nightly rate of $28. Since it’s cheaper than Beals Point, guests who would like to balance amenities against cost can consider Peninsula Campground a compromise between the full hookups at Beals Point and the primitive style of Averys Pond.
Averys Pond Campground
Averys Pond is another campground within Folsom Lake. Sites include 2 hike-in environmental sites that can accommodate up to 8 guests. This campground does not have water or trash service, and guests will have to park 1.1 miles away and walk the trail to reach the campsite. No dogs are allowed.
Overall, Averys Pond is wonderful for a primitive camping experience away from busier campgrounds like Beals Point. At a rate of $25 nightly, it is a bit steep given the reduced amenities.
Dru Barner Campground
Located in Eldorado National Forest, Dru Barner Campground is located in a forested setting without direct access to a lake or other body of water. This campground is especially suited to horseback riders since it includes individual sites with corrals and the forest allows horses throughout its extensive trail network.
Amenities are far more basic than at Beals Point. Guests have access to water, flush and vault toilets, fire rings, and picnic tables, but the campground does not have a dump station or hookups. Guests who enjoy upgraded amenities will be better served at Beals Point. However, Dru Barner is only $8 per night, making it highly affordable for anyone traveling on a budget.
